Question: Does National Grid follow a set of guidelines when trimming trees around power lines?

Answer: National Grid crews follow a set of guidelines developed by the US Forest Service and endorsed by several tree-care societies and organizations when they trim trees.

National Grid tries to maintain at least six to 10 feet of clearance from primary lines – and more above and below primary conductors in an effort to minimize outages in a storm.
