Norm in Syracuse really enjoyed tuning in to the SU basketball season opener aboard the USS Midway. Now, he wants to know how teams are selected for special venue games like this one.
Sue Edson, with the Sports Information Office at SU says a promoter will secure a venue. In this case, the aircraft carrier in San Diego, and then hand-pick the teams it wants to see play.
The invitation is extended to each school and the respective teams are free to either accept or decline the invitation.
In the case of the Orange, you could say the 62-49 victory against San Diego State was made that much sweeter by the spectacular setting.
