How close to an entrance must a handicapped parking spot be? Your Stories Question
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Question: What are the state regulations regarding the distance between a handicapped parking spot and an entrance?
Answer: According to Nick Cantiello of the State Department of Motor Vehicles, state law requires that spaces for people with disabilities be located as close as possible and distributed to provide convenient access.
He added that there is no measurable distance that is required by law.
Those who have questions about handicapped parking for a particular building should contact the facility management or the local building inspector.
