Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Two years have passed since the US Census, but Americans are still being asked to fill out a questionnaire. Some Central New Yorkers are wondering whether or not the survey is a scam.

The American Community Survey – otherwise known as the ACS – is an ongoing statistical survey that samples a small percentage of the population each year.

The data gives communities the information they need to plan investments and services. Residents are legally obligated to answer all the questions.

Information covered by the survey includes age, sex, income, and profession.
