Syracue (WSYR-TV) – A considerable amount of time has passed with no sign of Maalox returning to store shelves.

NewsChannel 9 reported last summer that Novartis’ manufacturing facility in Lincoln, Neb., is undergoing upgrades and improvements to its processes and procedures.

In 2011, the Food and Drug Administration sent the company a warning letter citing several violations that had to do with its manufacturing practices.

In the meantime, Novartis is outsourcing production of some over-the-counter products like Excedrin, Lamisil, and Triaminic.

The company does not, however, have a timeline for when Maalox might return to the local pharmacy.

They say they hope to be selling the product again, “as soon as possible.”
