Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A mailer is circulating in the Village of East Syracuse questioning whether spending $75,000 to give Main Street a face lift is worthwhile in the current economy.

The Mayor says the funding for this project came from county and state community development grants they applied for almost two years ago. The new clock in the middle of the village which just went up last week, was the finishing touch.

The clock alone cost $24,000, the rest of the money was used for electrical work, new sidewalks and curbs, lighting, benches and new landscaping.  According to the Mayor, it was a design that was put together with input from the community to dress up North Manlius Street to attract both visitors and new businesses. He thinks its money well-spent.
