Camillus (WSYR-TV) -- A NewsChannel 9 viewer has closely followed talks of lane reconfiguration along West Genesee Street in Camillus, only to see the plan scrapped in favor of existing road improvements. When will the improvements take place he wants to know?

Improvement should begin by March of next year, according to Brian Donnelly with the Onondaga County Department of Transportation. The county will improve the pavement, traffic signals and pedestrian accommodations on West Genesee Street from Munro Road to State Route 173 -- a stretch of about 3.5 miles.

Eighty percent of the project will be paid for using Federal money. 15 percent of the cost will be paid for by the state and the remaining five will be paid for by Onondaga County.

All of the approvals are in place and again, construction should begin by March 2013. The project should be complete by the end of next year.
