Question: Is it time for the U.S. to get to rid of the penny?
Answer: According to Bloomberg, pennies – as well as nickels – have cost more than double since 2006.
That has cost American taxpayers at least $436 million.
President Barack Obama has said recently that re-evaluating production of the penny would not be a huge savings for the government, but it’s worth looking at since America is spending money on something it doesn’t really use.
