Skaneateles (WSYR-TV) -- Matt Avery wants to know what’s being done about the aging boat launch off Route 41A in Skaneateles. One of the two docks is gone, creating a traffic jam for boaters on weekends.

The State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is in charge of the launch and tell us one of the docks needed extensive work and is being repaired. They expect to have it back within the next week.

The DEC says they will also look into what they can do to fix stairs leading into the water that are deteriorating.

They say the upkeep of boat launches like this one, have been difficult. The DEC has lost hundreds of workers in the last several years and they’ve depended on a prison workforce for these types of jobs. Three of those prisons have since closed.
