Manlius (WSYR-TV) -- Driving by the Swan Pond in Manlius, you’ll find that it’s being dug up and you want to know why.

The village is doing repair work to one of its ponds. Crews are draining the water, cleaning out about four feet of muck that has built up over the course of 25 years, upgrading the electrical system and repairing the fountain.

The pond’s patrons – swans Faye and Manny – have been temporarily relocated along with their offspring to the lower pond.

In the meantime, the mature trout have been transferred to a hatchery for safekeeping.

The swans and trout will be returned to the pond when the work is complete, which should be within the next 30 days.
