Fulton (WSYR-TV) -- You’ve noticed some demolition work underway in the building that neighbors the old Nestle plant in Fulton and you want to know what is planned for the site.

The building is an old co-generation plant that produced electricity and sold its by-product – steam – to Nestle.

Mayor Ron Woodward says the city of Fulton owns the property now and recently sold the scrap rights to a company out of Arizona called Great Western Steel. That company is in the process of dismantling the building and selling the metal for scrap.

Once the building is torn down, the city hopes to get a company into the former Nestle site who will want to develop this neighboring property.
