What happened to the mailbox at the Public Safety Building? Your Stories
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - One NewsChannel 9 viewer noticed the Syracuse Public Safety building no longer has a mailbox and wants to know why it was removed.
The US Postal Service tells us it is cutting back on the number of collection boxes to meet the changing demand for depositing stamped mail.
These boxes cost money to purchase, maintain and collect from.
A property inspection also determined this box posed a safety risk.
There are two locations within a block of the PSB that have collection boxes: 420 East Genesee St., the county's Transitional Living Services building, and 421 Montgomery St., the Civic Center.
