Liverpool (WSYR-TV) -- It’s summer time and you may be wondering what happened to Parkway Sundays in Liverpool.
The event closes down Onondaga Lake Parkway to car traffic, so bikers, walkers and runners can enjoy their activities directly on the road. We’ve learned Parkway Sundays won’t open until after July 4.
The Onondaga County Parks and Recreation director says this delay has been in place for the last couple of years now, ever since they started hydroplane races there.
When the Parkway Sundays series does start up this year, the road will be shut down from the on-ramp at Park Street from 81 to Heid's every Sunday for three hours. Parkway Sundays will run for eight weeks.
