Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Tax day has come and gone. Now you want to know when you’ll receive your refund. You can generally expect the IRS to issue your refund in less than 21 calendar days after the agency receives your tax return.
You can check the IRS website
for an update within 24 hours of e-filing your tax return or four weeks after submitting your paper return.
You’ll need your social security number, filing status and exact refund amount.
The “Where’s my Refund” page is updated every 24 hours – usually overnight – so you need to check once a day and whether you file electronically or by paper. Direct deposit gives you access to your refund faster than a paper check.
