Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A NewsChannel 9 viewer recently asked about some temporary stop signs at the intersection of Hiawatha Boulevard and Pulaski Street.
We reported that those signs will be removed once the city of Syracuse hires a company to repair the overhead lights and wires that were damaged in a recent accident.
Now, viewers want to know why the work was outsourced to another entity in the first place.
For many repairs, the city is capable of handling the work without any outside help. But, according to DPW commissioner Pete O’Connor, the damage in this particular instance was too technical and time consuming for his crews.
There could also be unforeseen damage that could cause the department to go for outside help after starting the repair.
O’Connor said he preempted that scenario based on his experience with similar issues.
