Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Question:
I’m a student living in a dorm at OCC. Why do I have to leave the dorms or pay extra to stay on Columbus Day weekend? Answer:
The college says OCC’s housing agreement covers the fall and spring semesters, but that accommodations are only available when classes are in session.
Residence halls can close during college breaks.
Students can request special permission to reside on campus while classes are not in session, but permission is granted at the discretion of OCC housing.
They say the break gives the school an opportunity to conduct any kind of maintenance the building may need – and residence advisors generally go home during the break so there is no active supervision unless alternative arrangements are made.
