Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – You know your child needs to travel in properly installed child-safety seats. Why then doesn’t that same rule apply when families are traveling in taxicabs?
Syracuse Police Sgt. Gary Bulinski says that – based on the ages and physical development of the children – different types of child safety seats or boosters are needed for different children.
So a taxi driver or cab company would need to have approximately four different child seats available in every taxi, which is not a reasonable expectation.
However, Bulinski says that there are no rules stopping a parent traveling with a child from bringing their own car seat and installing it in a taxi before riding to a destination. If you’ve got a question for the Your Stories team, call (315) 446-9900 or email YourStories@9wsyr.com.
