Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Question
: Why has the York Road construction in Auburn been stalled for the last few weeks?Answer
: The construction project on York Road in Auburn has been several years in the making and crews have started working to improve the road, add sidewalks and make it friendlier for pedestrians.
According to Auburn officials, the crews were dealing with a more severe issue the last few weeks.
“They got called by the state to help with some of the flooding that's happened in the Herkimer area so they pulled a lot of their crews to that and we expect them to remobilize next Monday,” said Auburn City Manager Douglas Selby.
Over the next couple of months, Selby says that crews will enter the final phase of repaving the street and creating a new road for residents and businesses.
“Pedestrian traffic will be accommodated where it wasn't before and the road will be widened and better defined and there will be landscaping to spruce the whole thing up and make for a nice boulevard for our customers and businesses in that area,” Selby said.
City officials expect the work to resume on Monday, August 5. If you have a question for the Your Stories team, call (315) 446-9900 or email YourStories@9wsyr.com.
