Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Jennifer in Homer was waiting for her son to arrive from school and says as the bus pulled up an ambulance with its lights flashing appeared down the road. The bus pulled over and turned off its flashing lights so the ambulance could pass, but the EMT opted to wait for the bus instead. Who has the right-of-way Jennifer asks.
No question about it, Trooper Jack Keller with the State Police says the ambulance has the right-of-way any time its lights are flashing.
The bus driver in this case did the right thing by turning off its flashing red lights and waiting for the ambulance to pass.
As for the ambulance, there’s no telling what caused the driver to stop rather than to pass the bus as it normally would.
