Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- One of our viewers wants to know when Syracuse plans to replace the playground at Lower Onondaga Park on the city’s Southwest Side. It was torn down about a year ago because of safety issues.
Good news. Parks and Recreation Commissioner Baye Muhammad says the first step to constructing a new playground is complete. The Common Council authorized the money needed to design and build a new structure just last month. Step two is to hold a series of community meetings to discuss what neighborhood residents want to see in that neighborhood. The meetings should begin sometime in June or early July.
There are no dates set as of yet, but Muhammad says the city will advertise the meetings as soon as they are scheduled. If all goes well, construction on a new playground for Lower Onondaga Park should begin sometime by late summer, early fall.
