Salina (WSYR-TV) – A lot of attention along Onondaga Lake Parkway has centered around the recently enacted restrictions on commercial vehicles, but additional work along the Parkway has prompted a new question.
Robert Michelson was driving on the Parkway the other day and noticed a lane reduction under the bridge. About a half mile of barrels lead up to the closure of the westbound right lane, he says.
The lane closure relates to bridge work being conducted by CSX. The State Department of Transportation says the rail company requested a highway work permit after the bridge inspection in early December found some significant deterioration. The closure began this past Monday and is expected to last about four weeks while crews make repairs to deteriorated steel beams on the truss bridge over the Parkway.
