A taste of summer warmth this week
It may be the first week of October, but warmth is the weather word of the week. A storm system lifting northward through the Midwest, will promote a south wind through a deep layer of the atmosphere. This will mean a period of unseasonable warmth through the middle of this week. The attached image is the departure from normal in daytime high temperatures for Wednesday of this week. The red shading over New York State indicates the above normal warmth heading our way.
Wednesday looks to be the warmest day, as we’re forecasting a high temperature around 80 degrees. We’ll need to keep an eye on just how much sun we can get out. The record high temperature for Wednesday, is 86, set back in 1951.
The other shoe will drop, but not until Friday and into the upcoming weekend. These initial shots of cold air often look more impressive many days out. We’ll be fine-tuning the forecast, and have more on what looks like a good shot of chilly air for the weekend over the next couple days.
