Rebecca M. Gruver
Rebecca M. Gruver is the 2013 Valedictorian of Adirondack Senior High School. She has earned a 98.69 overall high school average while taking academically challenging classes including AP English Literature, AP Physics, AP European History, AP US History, Syracuse University Project Advance Calculus, Spanish 4, Choir, and Music Theory 4. These courses represent some of the most challenging courses that we offer. Despite the rigor, Rebecca earned nearly perfect grades in these classes.
Rebecca was selected as a National Merit Semi-finalist based upon her SAT scores. This distinction is given to less than 0.5% of SAT test takers. Her perfect “800” on the Critical Reading section of the SAT put her in elite company.
In addition to academics, Rebecca has been involved in several school and community activities. Rebecca is a member of the National Honor Society, the Math Honor Society, and the Evergreen musical ensemble. Whether on stage for school musicals, or singing in St. Joseph’s choir in Lee Center, Rebecca has shown herself to be a multitalented young lady. Rebecca has found time to be a volunteer as well. She helped St. Joseph’s Church with the annual Christmas basket program and served as the “Community Service Coordinator” for the Math Honor Society.
Rebecca applied and was accepted to a prestigious group of colleges including SUNY Geneseo, Brown University, Lafayette College, Union College, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Rebecca was also accepted to Columbia University in New York City, where she will be majoring in Physics. It is quite an accomplishment to be among the few students each year who are accepted: This Ivy League institution accepts fewer than 7% of the students who apply there each year.
Rebecca is an outstanding student and a fine young lady who will no doubt continue on a path to excellence.
