Brittany DeCola (17) has been named the valedictorian for the class of 2013 at Lyons High School.
Brittany is an exceptional student. She has taken and continues to pursue the most challenging academic program including college courses in Pre-Calculus, U.S. History, Government & Economics, English, Biology, Forensic Chemistry and Calculus!
In addition to her outstanding academics, Brittany has been actively involved in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Her participation in such activities as the school musicals and school affiliated theater productions, Lyons Honor Society, Masterminds, Library club and Lyons Youth Ambassador are testament to her range of interests.
She maintains part time employment as a pharmacy technician and has volunteered at her church and the Lyons Main Street program.
Brittany has attained Principals High Honor Roll throughout her high school years and has served as standard bearer for her class.
She received the American Chemical Society Achievement Award, the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award and the Clarkson Achievement Award! She was selected as our schools candidate for the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) Good Citizen Award, and she attended the Boston University Summer Challenge Program.
She was a member of All County Band for the past two years and participated in the Wayne County Music Educators Association Solo festival each year of high school.
Brittany will attend Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences and will major in Chemistry. Brittany’s parents are Andrea and Michael DeCola of Lyons.
