Central New York’s television community is celebrating more than 60 years with the release of a new book on its history.
NewsChannel 9 anchor and author Christie Casciano, as well as assignment editor Lou Gulino, and Bridge Street executive producer Tim Fox teamed up to compile “Images of America: Syracuse Television.”
The book traces the history of television in the Salt City from the time WHEN-TV Channel 8 went on the air in 1948 through to the present.
The book features memorable elements from television history including Baron Daemon, the Magic Toy Shop, Jim Deline and the Gang, and The Markert Place.
The trio compiled images and caption information from a host of archives throughout Central New York.
Photos for the book came from the Onondaga Historical Association, NewsChannel 9, WCNY, The Syracuse New Times, Klineberg Photography, and several private individuals.
