Advancements in construction have eliminated the garden hose method of filling your pool. Pools are now generally installed with a schedule 40 p-v-c underground water line from your home. The pool water line can also be constructed from polyethylene or copper pipe. The water line is then tapped with a valve similar to a garden hose. This water line can even have a timer or automated filling system installed to add water periodically to your pool. However, the water level will always appear to be even disguising any leak in the pool. You'll have to wait for the water bill to determine if there's more water use than normal for your pool. Decisions on water lines and the various options available, are best made and reviewed prior to pool installation. Repair and replacement of your water lines can not only be costly but also a construction nuisance. You pool designer can assist you in making the right water line choices for your pool needs.
