Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Two more Syracuse stores have been shut down in a crackdown on problem corner stores.
The city inspected five stores on Wednesday, shuttering two due to code violations.
Extra Kleen Foods on Hawley Avenue was closed because of a hot-water tank venting back into the building, open sewer connections, open wiring, fire prevention equipment that wasn’t up to code, and a blocked rear exit.
The Green Front Market on Avery Avenue was also closed for multiple electrical issues, as well as fire equipment that was not up to code, a hot-water tank that didn’t meet city standards, and a lack of exit signage.
Three other markets were cited for minor violations.
