Flood Watch in effect for CNY into midday Friday
A small bubble of high pressure nosing south from Canada, will keep the weather quiet overnight. The only problem we foresee is that with the wet ground and wet atmosphere over us, as temperatures cool overnight, there may be some area of fog that develop. Otherwise, we’re a-ok right into early Thursday afternoon.
While we’re enjoying a break from the rain, an area of low pressure will head our way from lower Michigan Thursday. As this system gets closer to us, clouds will thicken over us, with a few showers possible late Thursday. We should see enough sun Thursday, that temperatures should still be able to warm to near 85 degrees.
The potential track of that low pressure area mentioned above, will have a BIG impact on the potential rainfall over us Thursday night. As of late Wednesday, there is a wide array of solutions for CNY. Anywhere from a tenth of an inch of rain, to 1-3” of rain. With the dynamics in the atmosphere coming together over us, and a very moisture rich atmosphere over us, this needs to be watched closely. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for all of CNY for Thursday night and Friday morning.
Behind this low pressure area, winds will shift into the northwest Friday and cooler and less humid air will briefly build over us for the start of the weekend.
