North Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - B and K Beds has closed up shop in North Syracuse and they still haven’t filled several high-priced orders.
Now, a local advertiser says B and K Beds skipped out on yet another big bill.
In February, 55 Plus magazine advertising representative Marlene Raite created a full page ad for the business. The ad was valued at $1200.
B and K had 30 days to pay for the ad, but three months later Raite hasn’t seen the money or heard from B and K.
“I called at least 25 times,” Raite said. “No answer…I emailed…emailed…no answer. I went over there and the door was locked.”
And she wasn’t the only one. One customer – “Brian” – bought a $500 swing for his disabled son in March. Then he didn’t hear from the company for months until reaching the owner at the store about two weeks ago.
"I basically threatened him that I was going to go to the police and call a lawyer because he had a contract that he was basically in breach of,” said Brian, who talked to NewsChannel 9 off camera and on the condition of anonymity.
The next day, B and K gave him a check for $500, but he says it’s still not enough.
“He didn't disappoint me, he disappointed two kids who have nothing to do with it and that's the frustration with a lot of the customers,” he said.
“It’s frustrating for me because of the children and for the people that don't have all this money,” said Raite.
According to a NewsChannel 9 legal expert, anyone who has lost money to B and K should file a formal complaint with the Attorney General’s office by calling (315) 448-4800.
Officials will then look into the complaint to see how the customers can get their money back.
