Alabama man arrested for firing gun at firefighters responding to his home

Hoover, Ala. (WSYR-TV) – An Alabama man is facing attempted murder charges after firing a gun on firefighters responding to his home just a few days after a Webster man killed two firefighters and injured two more.

According to a blog on AL.com, No one was injured by gunfire in the incident in Alabama.

Philip Earl Jones Jr. has been charged with attempted murder.

On Thursday, the blog reports that firefighters responded to a call for medical assistance at the man’s Lake Cyrus home.

When they entered the front door, police say Jones fired a gun at them.

On Monday, firefighters in the West Webster fire district responded to a report of a burning home and car on Lake Road in the Rochester suburb.

When they arrived, they were met with a hail of gunfire. Police believe the gunman, William Spengler, shot and killed himself during the incident.

Human remains were also found inside the home. Police believe the remains are those of Spengler’s sister, Cheryl Spengler.

Seven homes were burned down and dozens of residents were evacuated from the neighborhood during the incident.
