HARRISBURG, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 9-month-old Amish girl has died from injuries suffered when the buggy she was riding in was hit by a vehicle on a road in New York's North Country.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office tells local media that an Amish woman was driving the buggy on state Route 12 in the town of Harrisburg just before 8 a.m. Tuesday when the collision occurred.

Deputies say the baby was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where she later died. Officials say her mother suffered a minor leg injury.

The driver of the car, 27-year-old Lacey Northrup of Lowville, told deputies she didn't see the buggy before the collision.

Deputies say the accident remains under investigation.
