LIVERPOOL (WSYR-TV) - The 8th Annual “One Piece at a Time” Autism Awareness Walk was held at Long Branch Park in Liverpool.
Hundreds of people came out to support the cause.
A recent study by the Centers for Disease Control found 1 in 50 school-aged children have autism.
The CNY Chapter of the Autism Society of America wants people to see past the many stereotypes people sometimes have of children with the disorder.
"They're so smart and they’re just great kids and just great people in general and it would be nice to kind of cut down on the stereotyping,” said Samantha Skinner with CNYASA.
