Boston Police: 3 additional suspects in custody in connection to Marathon bombing
Boston (WSYR-TV) – Boston Police say that three additional suspects have been taken into custody in connection to the Marathon bombing.
Police released the information via their Twitter feed on Wednesday morning.
They added another Tweet shortly afterward indicating that there was no danger to the public.
Two of the suspects are Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev. They were already in federal custody on immigration charges, their lawyers told CNN.
The third is an unidentified US citizen.
All three are charged with conspiring to obstruct justice and making false statements to investigators, the U.S. attorney's office in Boston told CNN
One of the two initial suspects – 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev – was killed in a gun battle with law enforcement.
His younger brother – 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev – is recovering in a prison medical facility. He has been charged with a host of felonies, including using a weapon of mass destruction.
Police say the new suspects all tried to remove items from Tsarnaev's dorm room after the incident.
