Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Days after Democrat Dan Maffei claimed victory in the 24th Congressional District race, Republican incumbent Ann Marie Buerkle conceded on Friday.

The day after Election Night, Buerkle said she would wait until every vote had been counted.

On Friday afternoon at the Federal Building in Downtown Syracuse, Buerkle announced that she would concede to the Democratic challenger.

Two years ago, Buerkle defeated then-incumbent Maffei by fewer than 700 votes.

Green Party candidate Ursula Rozum conceded on Election Night after earning approximately 8 percent of voters' support.
