Skaneateles (WSYR-TV) -- A fire damaged the home of a well-known Skaneateles family just before nine Thursday night.

Authorities say the home of Carl Byrne, president of Byrne Dairy, was damaged when a fire started on the top floor and quickly spread to the attic.

Fire officials say the family was able to safely escape the blaze.

Nearly a dozen fire departments were called to the scene. Upon arrival, crews saw flames shooting through the roof.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire in just 15 minutes.

No one was hurt, but there was extensive damage to the home.

An investigation into what caused the fire is ongoing.
