Ithaca (WSYR-TV) – Ithaca Police say they arrested a man early Wednesday morning after he struck their car and then fled into the transient-living community known as “The Jungle.”

According to police, they were investigating a report of suspicious persons around 4:20 a.m. when they discovered that they were fishermen.

During the encounter, police say their car was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver sped away and led police on brief chase to Taber Street where he ran into “The Jungle.”

Police caught Ronald Woodward, 41, who they say had been drinking alcohol and also driving on a suspended license.

He was taken to the Ithaca Police Department pending arraignment on vehicle and traffic charges, along with obstructing governmental administration.
