Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- The search is on in Central New York for the Post-Standard Medallion. Every year, the paper puts out daily clues on where the prize is hidden and the lucky person who finds it can win up to $2,000.
A day off from school isn’t a break for some people in Central New York. Instead, 10-year-old Kaley and 7-year-old Olivia are trying to crack the clues to find the medallion.
“It said something about don’t go in the water, so it reminded us of Onondaga Lake,” said Kaley. “We used sticks to scrape off the snow, so it was easier to look. We looked everywhere.”
And, as they search “everywhere,” they’re finding a little fun along the way with their dad.
“If it wasn’t 18 degrees I think it would be a little more fun, but they’re into it and when you find things for kids you got to run for it,” David Richmond said.
Typically medallion hunters need a few more clues to lead them to it and it’s never easy to find.
