Salina (WSYR-TV) – The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office has released new information on a man killed in a fiery one-car crash on Old Liverpool Road last week.

According to Sheriff’s Investigators, the driver was a Nigerian national living in the United States under the stolen identity of a North Carolina man.

Using the assumed identity, the man secured a New York State license.

Investigators are working with the US Department of State to find the victim’s next of kin.

They say they will release the man’s identity once they have notified his next of kin.

They believe the fire was caused accidentally.

The accident occurred in front of Chuck Taylor’s Bodyshop near Heid’s.

The road was closed for some time after the accident on Friday.
