Cops: Oswego woman spit on and struck her sister while she held her 1-year-old child

Hannibal (WSYR-TV/AP) - Authorities say a 23-year-old Oswego woman has been arrested after she struck and spit on her sister while she held her 1-year-old son.

State police say Kathy Whalen was picking up her children at a home in the town of Hannibal when Brandi Thorpe of Oswego began spitting on her.

Troopers say Thorpe also punched Whalen in the face and hit her in the head with a telephone while Whalen was holding her son. Police say Thorpe also chased Whalen outside while holding her own infant son.

Thorpe was charged with assault in the third degree and endangering the welfare of a child after last Tuesday's incident. Police say Oswego County Social Services is also involved in the investigation.

Thorpe is scheduled to return to Town of Hannibal Court on Dec. 18.
