Phelps (WSYR-TV) – After multiple news agencies reported that a third man wanted in connection to a manhunt in Ontario County had been taken into custody, Geneva Police said Jonathan Rivera remains at large.
Initially police told local media that Rivera had been arrested in New York City.
Police later indicated that a person with the name Jonathan Rivera with the same date of birth - Dec. 4, 1987- was taken into custody in New York City.
They noted, however, that the man is not connected to their investigation.
Geneva Police and Ontario County Sheriff's Deputies confirmed that he is not connected to their investigation on Wednesday, along with New York City Police.
They are still looking for both Rivera and Andres Escalera.
Two other suspects – Jose Gomez Santiago and Alexander Rodriguez – have already been charged in connection to the incident.
State Police, Geneva Police, and the Ontario County Sheriff's Office were among the agencies involved in the manhunt earlier in the week.
One suspect was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital after being shot by an officer.
WROC-TV in Rochester reports that Santiago was taken into custody after Sheriff’s Deputies found him walking along Route 14 in the town of Phelps.
The incident began when Geneva Police were called to Clark and East North streets in Geneva at 3 p.m. Sunday in response to a shots-fired report.
When they arrived, the suspects fled in a pick-up truck and led police on a chase into Phelps.
The driver eventually lost control and the truck crashed. Three of the suspects fled on foot. A fourth was shot in the arm by police after he allegedly brandished a gun.
Police said his injuries were not life threatening.
Anyone with information that can help their investigation should call Geneva Police at (315) 789-1111 or the Ontario County Sheriff's Office at 1-800-394-4560.
