Cops identify 2 remaining suspects at large in Ontario County manhunt
Geneva (WSYR-TV) – Police have identified two suspects who are still at large after an overnight manhunt in Ontario County.
Police are looking for Andres Escalera and Jonathan Rivera, both of Geneva.
They believe both men have left the town of Phelps area, where law enforcement agencies had concentrated their search.
Police say both should be considered armed and dangerous.
State Police, Geneva Police, and the Ontario County Sheriff's Office are among the agencies involved in the manhunt.
Two other suspects are already in custody.
One suspect was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital after being shot by an officer. Police have charged Jose Gomez Santiago and Alexander Rodriguez in connection to the incident. Both men are from Geneva.
WROC-TV in Rochester reports that Santiago was taken into custody after Sheriff’s Deputies found him walking along Route 14 in the town of Phelps.
The incident began when Geneva Police were called to Clark and East North streets in Geneva at 3 p.m. Sunday in response to a report of shots fired.
When they arrived, the suspects fled in a pick-up truck and led police on a chase into Phelps.
The driver eventually lost control and the truck crashed. Three of the suspects fled on foot. A fourth was shot in the arm by police after he allegedly brandished a gun.
Police do not believe his injuries are life threatening.
Police had asked residents in Phelps to stay in their homes while they searched for the suspects.
Residents who see anything suspicious should call 911.
