Ithaca (WSYR-TV) -- A Cornell fraternity has been placed on interim suspension after allegations of racial harassment surfaced this past weekend.

Sigma Pi is being investigated after a group of black men and women reported that people on the roof of their fraternity house threw bottles and cans at them and shouted racial insults as they walked by on Sunday morning.

One person has been identified in connection with the incident, but Ithaca Police are still looking into the incident.

Members of the fraternity say the person who allegedly committed the offense is not a member of the fraternity.

According to the school, while under the suspension, the fraternity may not participate in any other activities other than operation of their residence.
