Wampsville (WSYR-TV) -- One of two women that was saved moments before her car burst into flames on Route 5 in Wampsville Friday shared her frightening story with NewsChannel 9.

“I really did think we were going to die. That’s why I closed my eyes, because I didn’t want to watch myself die,” said Brooke Blooss.

Looking at the car’s burned up remains, you’d never think the people inside made it out alive, but Brooke Blooss did. She walked away with just a scratch on her knee and a seatbelt burn on her neck.

"Glass cut me on my knee. I'm really thankful that's all that happened to me,” Blooss said.

Brooke and her friend Danielle were headed down Route 5, near Wampsville at around 1:30 Friday afternoon when they lost control after trying to avoid a rear-end accident with a vehicle in front of them.

“She slammed on the brakes and pulled the car to the right and went into an embankment and the car flipped over and did a cartwheel and we were upside down and we were both trapped in our seatbelts,” explained Blooss.

That’s when everything went black. Moments later Danielle yelled to Brooke, asking her if she was alive because she wasn’t moving.

“I fell to the roof of the car and we were trying to get out of the side of the windows, but we couldn’t because they hadn’t smashed or anything and the whole windshield was smashed down,” Blooss said.

The girls tried to escape, and heard people driving by but no one stopped to help, until two guys, -- who they only know as Mike and Mike -- pulled them out of the car.

"They both helped us out of the car and as soon as we got out they were yelling, ‘It’s on fire! It’s on fire!’”

Seconds later, their Tahoe was engulfed in flames. It took firefighters nearly an hour to put out the fire. And the once white Tahoe, is now just a charred piece of metal.

Blooss says if it wasn’t for the quick thinking of Mike and Mike, she wouldn’t be able to share her story today.

"I would like to thank them very much for everything they did for us. They are really awesome people,” she said.

NewsChannel 9 did speak to one of the men who rescued the girls. He says he's not a hero, it was simply the right thing to do.
