Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism and outspoken advocate for peace, the Dalai Lama, will visit Syracuse University in October, according to a release issued by the school.
The Dalai Lama will be in Syracuse as part of a two-day forum, “Common Ground for Peace,” on Monday, Oct. 8 and Tuesday, Oct. 9. According to the school, he will be joined by Dave Matthews, Counting Crows, Nas, and Andy Grammer, as well as comedian Whoopi Goldberg as emcee and several other artists.
The Dalai Lama will speak on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. The musicians will perform at the Carrier Dome after the celebrated cleric speaks.
Proceeds from the event will benefit a scholarship in the name of Bassel Al Shahade, an SU graduate student killed making a documentary about violence in his homeland, Syria.
