DeWitt (WSYR-TV) -- Two suspects were caught on tape breaking into tractor trailers in the middle of the day and now DeWitt Police are asking for your help.

Police say the suspects stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment, not once, but twice within 12 hours.

Police have released surveillance video of the suspects they say pulled into New England Motor Freight in DeWitt at around 11 a.m. Sunday. Within just seven minutes, police say the suspects, who were driving a maroon minivan, pried open the lock on a storage trailer and loaded up their van with $2,500 worth of tractor trailer batteries, scrap metal and equipment.

Police say the same two suspects stole even more equipment just hours earlier.

Police say the trucking company has had problems before, which is why they put quality surveillance cameras in – and just in time.

“Without physical evidence, a confession or a witness -- that type of thing -- it’s difficult for us, but video says it all. So the better the video system, the better chance of us solving the crime,” said DeWitt Police Investigator Thomas Regan.

If you recognize the men in the video or the minivan, police want to hear from you. Call the tip line at 449 – 3640.

Police would like you to also take note that the maroon minivan only has a hubcap on the back right wheel and a gray bumper.
