Deputies identify man rescued from Oswego Harbor

Oswego (WSYR-TV) -- Sheriff’s deputies in Oswego have identified the man rescued from the Oswego Harbor on Monday.

Aaron Matthews, 18, of Syracuse told investigators he was at the breakwall Sunday and lost his wallet. He went back to look for it on Monday when a wave hit the wall and swept him into the harbor.

Mathews was rescued from the frigid water by Oswego firefighters and treated for minor injuries.

Oswego (WSYR-TV) -- An 18-year-old is in the hospital after being rescued from the Oswego Harbor, near the lighthouse on Monday.

Authorities have not released the victim’s name or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The water was about 36 degrees at the time of the incident.

The fire department, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Border Patrol worked together on the rescue.
