Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- It looks like another huge crowd will pack the Dome this weekend for this year’s Monster Truck Show.
Crews have been busily replacing the turf and wood floors with dirt as Monster Jam prepares to invade the Dome for the third straight year.
It takes truckloads of dirt to turn the Carrier Dome into a venue fit for an event like Monster Jam and this year, they have two less days to do it.
Crews have been working around the clock since the end of Wednesday night’s basketball game to make sure they’re ready for all the festivities come Saturday.
"The Monster Jam people went to where we store the dirt out in Fulton and had worked it for two days, so that we knew that it was going to be perfect when it came here and the weather was wonderful for us last night. We started hauling dirt at three o'clock in the morning,” Dome Manager Pete Sala told NewsChannel 9.
"We don't have too many opportunities to do a big stadium venue in the Northeast just because the weather is what it is and so when we came here two years ago as a trial it really took off, so it's now becoming a traditional event,” said Event Manager Matt Cowie.
The top drivers and their trucks will be back, but organizers plan to spice things up by changing up things around the course. They’d like to make the new ribbon board part of the festivities and even using some fireworks, which are very uncommon for a Dome event. And that’s not all.
“We have a big lobster theme looking truck coming in this year or the side acts. Instead of two wheel dirt bikes we'll have really loud vehicles with some flame effects,” Cowie said.
Tickets are still available for Monster Jam. Get them through Ticketmaster or buy them at the event. Doors open Saturday at 2 p.m. You’re advised to get there early. For parking information, CLICK HERE.
