Driver hospitalized after hitting tree, rolling down embankment

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- A driver had to be extricated from his vehicle after hitting a tree and landing in an embankment off of East Genesee Street Tuesday night.

Police say the accident happened at around 9:30 p.m. in the 3400 block of East Genesee Street.

The driver of the 2010 Chevy Impala was trapped in the vehicle for about a half an hour before he was extricated by members of the Syracuse Fire Department.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

An investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing.
