Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - The Rescue Mission held its annual Easter dinner on Sunday.
About 300 meals were served to those in need, while another 80 were delivered to homeless families in Auburn.
Organizers said the effort wouldn't be possible without the help of 35 volunteers, at least one of whom once turned to the Rescue Mission for help.
"A gentleman 18 years ago had come to the Rescue Mission, now as his way of giving back and his way of teaching his children, he comes in and they did deliveries to families in Auburn today,” said Alan Thornton with the Rescue Mission.
Unfortunately, Thornton told NewsChannel 9 that the need in the community continues to grow.
This year, the Rescue Mission has served about 775 meals a day, which is 80 more than last year.
