Elephant charges, kills 62-year-old zookeeper
Syracuse (WSYR-TV/CNN) – Zoo officials are still trying to determine what set off an elephant that charged and killed a zookeeper in Springfield, Mo.
Police say 62-year-old John Phillip Bradford was in the Dickerson Park Zoo Elephant Enclosure with two other workers when the incident occurred.
They say the crew was trying to feed Patience when she charged Bradford.
The other workers were unharmed.
Police say the elephant has been at the zoo for 23 years without a previous problem.
Bradford had worked at the zoo for more than 25 years.
